This 5-day intense workshop builds on the principles presented in the “basic” DIACAP course. This workshop provides the student with an in-depth presentation of the knowledge required to perform the DIACAP Validator role, act as a member of a Validation team, or undergo the Validation process as a system owner. Each DoDI 8500.2 IA Control is covered in detail, including control selection, verifying its implementation, preparation steps prior to validating the control, and the actual validation using one or more of the evaluation methods (Interview, Document Review, Observation, or Testing). Topics covered include: the Validator role during each of the DIACAP Activities, preparation of appropriate documentation, ethics, and risk management. The curriculum covered in this course is appropriate for those DIACAP Team members (i.e. CA, ACA, IG/Auditors, PM/SM, DAA Rep, IAM, IAO, and other team members conducting validation activities)that must know how to establish and/or confirm that IA controls are implemented correctly and are effective in their application. This course will also be of interest to individuals that verify DCID 6/3 requirements, Federal C&A Team members that verify and validate NIST SP 800-53 controls, and contractor/commercial/private industry teams that conduct ST&E/IV&V. A fundamental understanding of DIACAP, another C&A process, or experience in the field is highly recommended.
