Air Force Certification and Accreditation Program (AFCAP) 3-Day Essentials

The Air Force Certification and Accreditation Program (AFCAP) Essentials blends lecture and hands-on exercises for students to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the entire C&A process. Students will be introduced to the current C&A terminology, DoD/AF policy (to include FISMA requirements of a comprehensive, repeatable, and auditable Information Security process), the roles and responsibilities of the C&A team and supporting players.

Laptop Required
Laptops are required for this course, as each student will be asked to create documentation and participate in practical exercises that guide the students learning from DIACAP essentials, fundamental concepts, and IT Lean Phases to the details of selecting, specifying, implementing, and assessing the IA controls. The laptop must have a Web browser, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Excel, and Word. Resource Kits are provided via CD for students attending the course, for in-class work, as well as supplemental materials.

Objective: 
The Essentials breaks down the DIACAP/AFCAP Activities (into tasks, outputs, and responsible entities), and includes lectures/discussions/exercises which focus on the proper implementation and validation of the IA Controls. The central component used to satisfy policy requirements of DIACAP is the completion of IT Lean and the Security, Interoperability, Supportability, Sustainability, and Usability (SISSU) checklist in the Enterprise Information Technology Data Repository (EITDR).

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course.
